The Official Welcome!
« on: February 14, 2017, 05:00:38 PM »
Welcome to Backroads Touring Kansas!
If that sounds familiar it is because this site is the continuation of http://www.backroadstouring.org/kansas/.  Roger Baugh, after many years of running the site has decided to end the forum there and some of us wanted to keep it going.  Roger is still with us, participating and riding and he will keep the other site archived so we can still refer back there.  You will see some redirection link on here.
We want to point out we are not an organization or a company. There are no dues, membership fees, officers or elections.  The site is run by volunteers and member Nick Bright is providing the hosting service.
The mission of this site is to promote the sport of riding the backroads of Kansas.  That covers a lot of area as Kansas is a big state with lots of backroads, paved and unpaved.  We hope the members of this community will use this site to plan rides and share the rides they take with others.
Have a good time and be safe out there!

Also, please remember this site is in no way responsible in any way shape or form for anyone's safety or anything else we as riders do out there either individually or as a group, that responsibility lies squarely with each and every one of us! However, there certainly are some basic procedures and practices that we all should follow for safety sake and the original site has a VERY good Safety page that I HIGHLY recommend ALL riders here should look over very good and commit to memory as much as possible...

We have also discussed and may create a downloadable and printable Ride Emergency Contact List that ride leaders can print and have riders fill out so that in case of an emergency or separation, the leader can contact whoever the rider designates to notify of any situation that involves their loved one. I have seen the original ride waiver work in this capacity more than once and can really appreciate the sensibilities such contact information represents!

Once again, my helmet is off in appreciation of the founders of this forum ... thanks for providing the means for all to stay in touch with events, and with one another!
